Our Technician Donates Hair to Locks of Love
One of our technicians, Ryan, donated his hair to Locks of Love recently. He grew out his hair for years to make this donation.
Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that first began in 1997 and now accepts donations in all 50 states and Canada. LOL benefits children under 21 from any type of medical hair loss and provides them with prostheses free of charge.
Providing these children with prosthesis allows them to resume a sense of normalcy in their lives after they may have experienced a loss of sense of self due to hair loss. These children are often bullied and find it difficult to participate in normal activities such as swimming, sleepovers, and sports.
Locks of Love provides something that is not available to most people. Wigs are often fitted for adults and require the use of tape and glue to keep them in place. The use of these adhesives can cause burning to the skin among other issues. LOL creates prosthesis for children that solves the problem children face with normal wigs.
What we love about LOL is that anyone can donate. Anyone can go to a salon they trust and have their hair cut in a ponytail or braid. All they have to do is mail the donation to LOL and fill out a donation form. This process makes it so easy to donate from anywhere.
