Happy Cinco De Mayo
5/5/2021 (Permalink)
It’s officially the fifth of May! That means it’s party time! But do you know why we celebrate Cinco De Mayo?
What is Cinco De Mayo?
Cinco De Mayo celebrates Mexico’s victory over France at The Battle of Puebla on May fifth of 1862. Contrary to popular belief, Cinco De Mayo is not Mexican independence day. Mexico declared independence 50 years before The Battle of Puebla.
Why Do We Celebrate?
Today, we celebrate Cinco De Mayo in the United States to celebrate Mexican heritage. Celebrations often include parades, parties, mariachi bands, and Mexican folk dancing.
Where To Celebrate In Charlotte?
