Stay Safe During Summer Storms

While we most often think of spring as the time of year with the most rain, summer storms can be severe as well. In fact, hurricane season is quickly approaching. North Carolina’s hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
While storms can be unpredictable, there are still steps you can take to stay safe during all summer storms. Before The Storm:
- Put together an emergency supply kit
- Unplug any electronics
- Secure any objects outdoors
- Shutter windows and secure doors
During The Storm:
- Seek shelters indoors
- Use a battery operated radio to stay up to date
- Stay away from windows and doors
After The Storm:
- Never drive through flooded areas
- Stay away from downed power lines
- Stay away from areas that have sustained storm damage
