12/16/2021 (Permalink)
It’s time for step number 4 in our 10 Steps To Feeling Better series! Expressing gratitude isn’t just for Thanksgiving dinner, we can express gratitude every day. But what are the benefits of being grateful? Keep reading to find out.
Expressing gratitude for the things and people in our lives can make us instantly happier in just a few seconds. Thinking about the absence of the most important things in your life can help improve your happiness more than thinking about a happy event that hasn’t happened.
So what is the best way to express gratitude? One way is to write yourself a letter about all the things you are grateful for. One study showed that writing letters of gratitude increased life satisfaction and happiness while decreasing depressive symptoms.
Not only does gratitude help may you feel better, but it also improves your relationships. Expressing gratitude helps increase marital satisfaction.
Gratitude has also been shown to improve self-care. People who were more gracious towards their bodies were more likely to eat better, exercise, and go to doctors.
Writing a daily gratitude list before bed can help you sleep better and longer. Going to sleep with positive thoughts can help improve sleep quality.
Gratitude is happiness that lasts. It gives you willpower and patience and puts you into a positive state of mind. There is no instant gratification, it is a frame of mind. Regularly expressing gratitude will help you achieve a gracious frame of mind.
We give gratitude every day that we are able to help families all around Charlotte, Pineville, and Mathews to bring their homes back to normal.
Come back tomorrow to learn about the fifth step to feeling better!
